3D Compartment Fire Behaviour Training for CFBT Instructors provided by an experienced global network of trainers who have extensive operational experience at all levels of command. Tactical Deployment Instructor Courses are also offered to ensure the basic principles of CFBT are effectively transferred to the realities of the fire-ground. The result is safer firefighters and risk-based tactical approaches.

3D CFBT Instructor – Our training concepts ensure that instructors are equipped with an in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the practical limitations of gas-phase fire-fighting tactics. The safety of the 1.5MW and 2.8MW ISO container fires will allow firefighters to take a 'close quarters' look at how real compartment fires are likely to behave and develop, under a wide range of ventilation profiles. Instructors will learn to assert control over real fire conditions by taking specific actions to adjust these profiles. Most importantly, all students acquire the same level of practical experience, as all phenomena are repeatable whilst under safe & controlled conditions.

Compartment Fire Behaviour Training - CFBT
There exists a clear link between firefighter fatalities and the failure to provide realistic fire behavior or tactical deployment training. One way of providing this training is through acquired structures. However, such training is rarely delivered in a uniform fashion across an entire force of firefighters, where individual experiences are extremely limited and will vary widely. The use of ISO steel shipping containers, or purpose built CFBT training structures, to deliver practical fire behavior and fire attack training based on the original Swedish model, has become the most effective method of providing the same training experience to every firefighter. It is worth noting that not all training undertaken in ISO containers conforms to this risk-assessed model and users should be wary of the hazards where this is the case.

CFBT & 3D Firefighting
The training evolutions that take place in CFBT Fire Development Simulators (FDS) present an opportunity for firefighters to observe the development and behavior of enclosed fires at extremely close quarters. However, the training is delivered under strictly controlled, risk-assessed conditions where  fuel-loads and fire intensity  are predictable and pre-calculable in their energy release, creating a safer environment in which to learn. The experience is repeatable for each student and various adaptations of the FDS units allow a wide range of scenarios and conditions to be encountered. The learning experience includes the following -
  • Advanced Practical Fire Behaviour
  • The accumulation and transport of dangerous fire gases
  • Influences of venting inlet and outlet points
  • 'Air-Track' Management
  • Fire Behaviour Indicators
  • Rapid Fire Progress
  • Actions needed to stabilize the environment
  • Compartment Firefighting Tactics - CFFT
  • Door Entry Procedures
  • Approach & Attack Techniques
  • Securing Crew & Team Safety
  • Tactical Deployment & Critical Tasking issues
  • The importance of Flow-rate
  • Practical Dynamic Risk Assessment
  • Implementing effective Risk Control Measures

Our global network of CFBT or CFFT trainers currently operate extensively throughout the USA; South America; China; Europe; Asia and Australia, providing instructor courses based on NFPA 1403 and European standards. We can train groups of CFBT Instructors at your own facility, or arrange a tailor-made training solution at our facilities located on any of the above continents.

Our continuing objectives are to further assistance, where possible, to developing countries in the delivery of CFBT training to firefighters world-wide.
